Rob Roy
In 18th-century Scotland, young Frank Osbaldistone finds himself embroiled in the tumultuous world of Jacobite rebellion and Highland clan warfare. Sent to his uncle's estate to learn the ways of commerce, Frank becomes entangled with the legendary outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor and his band of Highlanders.
As Frank becomes involved with Rob Roy's activities, including smuggling and cattle rustling, he finds himself torn between loyalty to his family and sympathy for the Highland cause. Along the way, he forms a complex relationship with Diana Vernon, a spirited and independent woman who challenges his assumptions about loyalty, love, and honor.
SIR WALTER SCOTT [1771-1832] was a Scottish novelist and historian. His writing had an incredible impact throughout European literature, especially on historical fiction, and the authors said to have been inspired by him is innumerable.
